BUT WAIT?! Why didnt we just build a knife builder tool where you can select everything from menus? Well, we feel that what we do requires a personal touch, and it helps us to get to know you a bit to ensure that you are getting a tool that suits you perfectly and will be a lifelong companion.

What do we need from you to create your perfect knife? If you’re choosing a knife from our existing range, it’s best to be familiar with the models and materials that suit your needs. To help you make your selection, we’ve organized the following areas and questions:

Emberleaf Knife Models: Explore our complete range of Emberleaf knife models.

Handle Material Options: We offer a wide array of raw handle materials which can be seen in our Materials Gallery they can also be combined with other materials for a unique look. Keep in mind that these materials may appear different when finished compared to their raw state. To get inspiration, browse through our completed projects or check out our Completed Projects Gallery or Instagram and Facebook pages.

Steel Options: Our experienced bladesmiths are here to guide you in selecting the best steel for your application. Typically, the model and design of the tool will determine the ideal steel, but if you have a specific steel in mind, don’t hesitate to let us know. Additionally, we offer a range of specialist stainless Damascus steel with captivating patterns that can enhance the aesthetics of your knife. Explore our Damascus steels which can be found at the bottom of the Materials Gallery Page which are crafted from the excellent tool steels RWL-34 and PMC27, known for their high corrosion resistance and exceptional edge retention.

Edge Profiles – Scandinavian vs. Micro Bevel: Understanding the difference between a Scandinavian (Scandi) Grind and a micro bevel is crucial. A Scandi Grind offers sharper cutting performance but may be less robust, while a micro bevel provides durability at the expense of some sharpness. Selecting the right edge profile is essential as it can significantly impact the blade’s behaviour, weight, and maintenance and sharpening requirements. Learn more about Edge Profiles.

Pins: Our pins come in a variety of premium materials: stainless steel, brass, and copper are offered as standard options. For those seeking something truly unique, explore our Mosaic and EDM pins, showcased in our Materials Gallery. Additionally, we offer the option to engrave pins with designs of your choice, as long as they fit!

Sheaths: Craftsmanship is at the heart of our sheath-making process. Each sheath is meticulously handmade and precisely moulded to fit the individual knife. We take pride in producing all our sheaths in-house. Leather sheaths traditionally come in classic black or brown, but we are happy to accommodate custom colour requests. If you desire hand-tooled sheaths and mountings, including engraved silver panels, please inform us during the ordering process.

Kydex Sheaths and Mounting Options: Our Kydex sheaths are thermoplastic moulded to securely fit your knife. They are mounted using our hybrid system, which combines leather for stable vertical belt carry or scout carry options as standard. We also offer the convenience of a Tac-clip for versatile mounting on belts, bags, or any other suitable location. Kydex sheaths are available in a wide array of colours.

Left or Right-Handed? Determining your handedness is crucial, as it dictates the side on which you’ll wear your knife. Our skilled bladesmiths will consult with you to understand your personal preferences for knife placement and drawing, ensuring the most optimal and comfortable experience.

Engraving: Our in-house engraving services are a source of great pride. We can engrave anything from initials and family crests to lifelike animal images directly onto the steel. For truly one-of-a-kind pieces, we offer bespoke artwork services. For more information, please visit our Engraving Services page.

Edge Maintenance Kits and Accessories: To keep your knife in prime condition at all times, we offer a range of edge maintenance kits and accessories. We’ll inquire about any additional items you may need during the customization process. Once we have all the necessary details, we’ll get to work.

Payment and Lead Time: We request a 50% deposit to initiate your order, or you have the option to pay in full. We accept all major credit/debit cards, including bank transfers, and can provide a secure payment link via email for your convenience. Our standard lead time is 12 weeks, so please plan accordingly if your order is time-sensitive. Keep in mind that lead times may vary based on materials and project complexity, but we’ll strive to keep you informed throughout the process.

At Emberleaf, we’re dedicated to crafting custom knives that meet your unique needs and preferences. Let’s work together to design the perfect tool for you.
