Fairbairn–Sykes Commando knife – Patrol Edition
The Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife is a classic and iconic edged implement with a long-standing historical heritage. It originated during World War II and was developed by British officers William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes, both of whom had extensive experience in tactical training and equipment design.
Key features of the Fairbairn-Sykes design include a double-edged blade measuring 7 inches (175 mm) in length, with a slim, symmetrical profile optimized for precision and control. The handle is slender and features the distinctive “commando” pattern, with a cylindrical form and ribbed grip to enhance handling and ergonomics. The overall design emphasizes a careful balance of weight, strength, and maneuverability.
The Fairbairn-Sykes design became widely recognized during World War II and was adopted by British Special Forces, including the SAS (Special Air Service) and other elite units. Its influence extended to many later military-pattern edged tools and it has become a lasting symbol of elite unit heritage and specialist training traditions.
The Patrol Edition is twin-ground from RWL-34 stainless steel, hardened to 60 Rockwell. It is finished in black Cerakote, fitted with a black linen micarta handle, and complemented by Cerakote-coated stainless-steel fittings at the guard and pommel.
It is supplied with a handmade leather sheath.
